Dear YAF forum members,

just set up YAF 2.2.2 on Windows Server 2012 with IIS 8 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

The server's IP is public and registered to a domain name.

Everything runs fine, but as long as I didn't set up the forum completely, I don't want to make it public.

So I changed the IIS Authentication settings:

Disabled anonymous auth.

Enabled standard and Windows auth.

Form authentication is enabled obviously by a setting in web.config that's coming with YAF.

But now I have the following problem:

After entering the web site's URL I'll be prompted for username/password - ok.

Then the YAF start page appears.

But when I want to login, no matter if I use the admin or a test user account, the page says (translated from german):

"Welcome guest... To use all funtcions you have to login...."

After switching back to the default auth settings, login works again but the site is public.

Isn't there a way to have the site password protected AND working until it is ready?

Klaus

You could hide everything with the Access Mask and Role's. Assign No Access to each of your forum Categories. Your forum will be public, but no one will see anything except you (or the admin if you're not admin).
