Hey folks. I am new to YAF and am trying to get a site going, but no luck.

So far, I have downloaded the 3.5 release of 1.9.3 Final and followed the install directions as best I could. I think I got it all correct.

It began with an error when I tried to supply a password in the config password screen when I ran the domain/install/default.aspx. The error log reports error # 1309, and it says that

However, when I go to mydomain/install/default.aspx, I get the config password page. I put in a password and click to continue and I get another page with an error that says:

Exception message: Cannot save the YAF.ConfigPassword to the app.config file. Please verify that the ASPNET user has write access permissions to the app.config file. Or modify the app.config "YAF.ConfigPassword" key with a plaintext password and try again.

So I manually changed the app.config file and added a password that meets all complexity standards. No luck.

So I went back and forced the aspnet user's security so they had write permission on all objects in the directory. Still no luck.

I am still getting a 1309 error in the logs, but the exception message has changed to:

"Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. "

Between each step, I ran iisreset to ensure there were no remnants out there.

Where am I going wrong?

Login failed is an error with your SQL Server credentials. Re-check those.

I created a user, gave them dbo to the db, put it in the connection string, and got the same results. What did I miss?

What type of system are you loading this on?

WinXP/Vista/7 with SQL Express, one machine?

Win 2003/8 - one machine, two machines?

Can you post your web.config and db.config files (scratch out the password)?

First thing that I would try would be to alter your connection string setting.

Ok, I have created an account on SQL using SQL Auth. I have granted that user the dbo schema for the DB I am trying to use, which is at this point an empty shell.

I have logged into SQL Management Studio with that account successfully.

However, I still get the same error.

This is the error that you get after altering the connection string?

Yes. I actually scrapped the entire site that was there and started over. I went back through the entire process, and got to the same point. This occurrs after the following process:

1. go to mysite/install

2. enter config password

3. Click next to proceed with DB initialization

4. Get Error

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:

  <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:

2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

<configuration>
   <system.web>
       <compilation debug="true"/>
   </system.web>
</configuration>

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.
