Hi all,

http://shardan.gotdns.com/default.aspx?tabid=55&g=posts&m=4&#post4  at last.

But now I'm stuck with step 6 "Run the YAF DB setup. /desktopmodules/yaf/install/default.aspx. "

Everytime I try to navigate to this page, the DNN installation automatically redirects me to the default DNN portal. I feel quite dumb by now that I can't get this page to execute. Do you have any ideas how to override that redirection mechanism until YAF is installed? Somehow DNN grabs all URLs below its root directory and prevents them from executing. Did neither of you have the same issue when installing YAF?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

The database setup ran fine.

I worked my way around it now, after fiddling with it for some more hours. I created a new separate virtual directory containing all required files for YAF to work while preserving the directory structure of my DNN installation and did a clean database install from there. Afterwards I just truncated the two tables yaf_ForumAccess and yaf_Forum (since the standalone installation creates a forum automatically and the DNN module will do the same when first added to the page, thereby using the same ID).

Then it works like a charm.

One thing to watch out for though is to use "~/desktopmodules/yaf/" as the YAF.Root config value and not "/desktopmodules/yaf/" as initially stated in the installation instructions above. Otherwise the setup doesn't run. At least not if your physical location is somewhere else than intepub\wwwroot.

Although it cost me about 8 hours to finally get it working in DNN, it was definitely worth the effort. YAF is great 🙂
