I've got my forums up and going. I've created a couple of forums and am now trying to restrict access to them. Do I specify a role for each forum? Do I define an access mask? This would be having three 'areas' and people only have rights to one out of three.

Or do I create boards? Can I restrict access to that?

Here's an example (although it's a dumb example). I want an area for books and an area for movies. If I want to be able to give access to either or both by person. So is that forums or boards?

TIA - Jeff.

In your example you only would need a user group (role) books and movies and next set the access masks.

So really you only need one board. You only need to set the access mask "Hide if no access" for each forum so the user would only see the forums he or she have access to.

I apparently am brain farting...So would I create two new roles - One called BooksRole and one MovieRoles? And then for the Books forum give access to BooksRole only and Movies would have MoviesRole. Then if a person wants access to both they would have each role?
