We always have the option that users can select their own editor. Till version 2.0.0 or was it 2.1.0 it was working ok (although quoting someone who had the CKE editor (HTML) resutled in HTML code for the user who was writing the post).

But since 1 or 2 releases ago, we have problems with the CKE editor (HTML) editor. If you write a post with this editor, the tekst what is posted is HTML (other users see html code). Is there a setting I need to change? or is this a bug that should be solved?

Yes, I can!

Moreover, this is with the plain text editor -- I can select TinyMCE (html) or other editors but still detaults to plain text editor. Is there a setting to correct this?

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback.

Well, strange then. There was one user who always used this editor, but since (I think 2.0 or 2.1) she cannot use this editor. I saw also what happened.

If you post with that editor, what is posted is the HTML as text (HTML encoded as HTML)

I re-uploaded RESOURCES folder and the html went away.

Also, ref plain editor issue: user select checked, my admin and user accounts have TinyMCE (HTML) selected. Other users as well. I will post to separate thread since different issue.

We recently updated from 1.9.something to 2.1.2.0, and are experiencing the same problem. It manifests in two slightly different ways, and is most visible when dealing with tables:

A) This post has a table that was built in Dreamweaver and copy+pasted into our forum.

UserPostedImage

When I click Edit, the post appears normally in the editor.

UserPostedImage

When I preview or save, it displays raw HTML code to all users.

B) This post has a table that was built in TinyMCE HTML's table tool.

UserPostedImage

When I click Edit, the editor window is completely blank.

UserPostedImage

When I preview or save, it displays raw HTML code just like the first example.

UserPostedImage

This problem happens consistently on multiple computers since we upgraded, in all three primary browsers (IE/Firefox/Chrome), and in both TinyMCE HTML and CKEditor HTML. However, one of the forum moderators doesn't have the same problem-- if I edit one of these posts and save, it shows as HTML code. If he then edits it and saves without changing anything, it shows up as formatted content. His system information is the same as mine-- a Windows 7 PC running Firefox 29.0.1 and using CKEditor HTML, so I have no idea why it works for him and not for anyone else.

Please help! 😞

Any ideas? This problem is making it really hard to use our forums. 😞

I'm also seeing raw HTML appearing at times on my forum. It usually seems to happen when a previous post is being quoted, but I can't narrow things down any further than this. The default editor on the forum is TinyMCE but users can choose. I'm thinking of disabling this option and standardising on TinyMCE to see whether this stops the problem.

1) The font has been tweaked and is now every so slightly smaller

2) Long usernames are now truncated to in the left hand column of threads to prevent the formatting being screwed up, e.g. WanderingLonelyAsACumulonimbusIncus now appears WanderingLonel...

Way way better on both counts!

I hated the pale, hard to read low contrast stuff - felt like I was always peering into the gloom trying to read the posts (mind you, with some of the gloom in the Model Output thread in winter, that's probably not gonna be cured completely :-D)

If Matty's constantly screwed up quoting has been cured too, I might even start reading his posts again

EDIT: I've just done a little more digging in the database.

A post which outputs raw html appears to be saved in this format....

[ q u o t e =idj20;633810]< p >[ q u o t e =JB;633799]< / p >

A post correctly displayed starts off like this in the database:

< p >[ q u o t e =Global Warming;633858][ q u o t e =idj20;633810]< / p >

EDIT 2: I decided to comment out the code in pmessage.ascx.cs, postmessage.ascx.cs and reportpost.ascx.cs which checks for mobile and override the Editor with the default Yaf BBCode Editor if true:

// Override Editor when mobile device with default Yaf BBCode Editor

// if (PageContext.IsMobileDevice)

// {

// this._forumEditor = this.Get>().GetBy("1");

// }

this.EditorLine.Controls.Add(this._forumEditor);

I've tested TinyMCE on iPad, iPhone and Nexus 7, and it works ok.

1) User posts a message using an html editor (in my case TinyMCE)

2) User of mobile device quotes the message created in step 1 using the Yaf BBCode Editor (because by default his editor is downgraded to this).

3) The entire message including the quoted section is now displayed as raw html in the thread (NOTE: This doesn't always happen which is perhaps why you can't easily reproduce it)

As I mentioned the problem in my case is resolved by commenting out the editor 'downgrade' and giving TinyMCE to all users of the forum.

My understanding is TinyMCE didn't work with IOS until 2011(?). I'm not sure how the problems were resolved but it now seems to work well on iPhone/iPad, so perhaps a future release of YAF shouldn't automatically switch editors? (..just a thought as there may be other reasons for doing this)

As I mentioned the problem in my case is resolved by commenting out the editor 'downgrade' and giving TinyMCE to all users of the forum.

But that is not a fix for the problem. The problem would still exists if the user quotes a html message with an bb code editor enabled in the user profile.
