I'm not sure how it works, maybe it scans the topic and searches for similar topics or maybe it makes a global search for the words inside the postings inside the thread. Anyway it's here and looking well.

The Similar Threads Feature is definitely on the to do list. The Site you are linking to is using tags to filter the similar threads. Tagging is also planned for yaf.
