I decided to switch to another built-in editor to use color text, import WinWord text, etc. To my surprise this editor doesn't support any usua; YAF tags, I can not insert video from YOUTUBE using [youtube], etc. Is there any other acceptable solution for the editor? I'd like to be able to use a powerful editor and to provide a complete, better functionality to all other users. But how?? If I switch to HTML mode the editor simply deleted the iframe provided by youtube. If I add a link inside the post, then it appears, but when I click it, it opens up in a separate browser window, like it was programmed. But I'd like to get it embedded inside the post. Is that possible?

Also to my surprise I cannot post the image, I can just include it using URL, but I cannot upload it from my computer and add to the post. Should I return back to the basic YAF editor and lost all color messages that have already been posted? I got stuck. Please help!

Editors like FCK (now just CKEditor) have internal javascript files that determine their configuration -- because they are WYSIWYG they generally do not support BBCodes - but you can usually modify the javascript control files to suit your needs, adding and removing 'toolbar' buttons from them. With some configuration, you can get most likely what you want from one. I had a set of files I kept for my DNN that had to be uploaded every time I upgraded DNN because I didn't like the default settings for their text editor. I would strip out many of the 'extras' and keep the basics -

Generally a forum uses normal style buttons , and few added features like embed videos/images/flash(optional)

all other wysiwyg editors are either having lots of functions or not behaving properly.

just the same as we here here , but should be WYSIWYG editor, thats the ideal i guess

DNN came stock with 4 rows of buttons and mine would be down to one or two... I would also change some of the defaults for things like link embeds so they would open in a new window/tab instead of hijacking the page a viewer was on.

I hope someone more familiar with the code can come up with a real solution in the next release

YAF 1.9.5.5 will include the new CKEditor 3.5.1 as html editor and as BB Code editor with a real preview of the common bbcodes. you can switch to source and preview mode.

Currently not all codes are in preview mode, but there can be easily added.

:!: Will this new version support the old postings, in other words, will I be able to see all the existing postings with the new editor without corrupting them?

That looks great... thanks for adding CKEditor to the project. Wondering if tiny_mce is needed given how nice CKEditor is and how much better it currently works.

Thoughts?

I like it. Maybe 2 problems - I can't switch to HTML mode and language is taken from browser settings.

The last maybe not a problem at all :)

It's not CK problem.

I somehow getting a check for drhack.net while posting it. Surely, it's a problem.

A second try was painless.
