1.9.1.7 to 1.9.3final Net 20.
I have run through the upgrading process twice on this forum and both times I could not log into my forum. Lost password attempt brings an unknown user response. No errors to report just this issue. I again had to revert to backups of the old version.
I did not have this issue with the first forum I upgraded from 1.9.1.8 to 1.9.3 final.

There were some encryption changes that Mek documented pretty well, but I too forgot about them during my upgrade today. You need to make sure you are using the Membership/Role/Profile provider settings in the UPGRADE config.

When I post fp:mddubs in a topic, I'm leaving my footprint there so I can track it once I get into coding/supporting. (Yes I stole this off Mek 🙂, who stole this off Ederon 🙂 )

Thanks guys for the help but I don't understand how to implement the Membership/Role/Profile. And Mek I don't see a link to your blog. Unless it is the button and I can't find any information about Membership/Role/Profile there.
Can you guys be more specific or pass a link to the article that will help?

Thanks again.

P.S. Why would it work on one forum upgrade and not the other?

because you used the correct web.config with the correct provider settings in one, and not the other. The correct provider settings are in the upgrade191.cofnig or if you click my blog its there on the first page (because I only have one article).

I used v191-upgrade-web.config on both forums. I just tried it again and re merged this file with web.config. Same issue I can't log in. Doesn't know me. I think this forum will be staying at the old version for awhile. Seems awfully picky to do this for an upgrade.

Thanks for the help though. I do appreciate it.

As for you're link to your blog I see why I couldn't find any articles. I was using the wrong link. Not that the blog post helped me understand any of it but it was my bad.
