I recently open a new web site. I just created a new forum using YAF version 1.9.6.1. I really like it but I have 2 issues.

1. New users do not receive the emails to activate or verify their email addresses. Thus, I have to turn it off (uncheck the Require Email Verification) so I don't need to activate the account manually.

2. Version 1.9.6.1 runs very slow. My forum only have a few users, topics and posts since it's new. I afraid as time goes by, we will have more users and posts, it will be extremely slow.

Any suggestion to improve performance is welcome.

1. Use the search options or look under the bugs forum, there are a gazillion posts about this topic and it usually relates to an improperly configured mail file. Details
can be found in those posts as to how to configure it properly.

2. I'm not too sure there is much tweaking you can do to yaf itself off a fresh install. From my experience this sounds like an issue with the server. General system performance improvements, sufficient memory etc, could help. Others might have a suggestion I haven't considered, sometimes it can take a day or three.

My discussion board has 5 forums and 9 subforums in each forum. Is that why it runs so slow?
