When you download YAF-v1.9.6.1-RTW-SRC, what do you open in Visual Studio?

Choice 1 is yetanotherforum.net.sln solution
Choice 2 is the YetAnotherForum.NET folder

If it's okay to ask another question, I already had 1.95 installed, but messed up the upgrade. Can I delete everything (or just keep my web.config, install folder, and images folder) and just start all over again? I'm mainly worried about the database -- if I can still use the database I purchased from my host and has the information from the YAF 1.95 I had on it.

You Need to Open the sln Solution file.

And yes you can use your Database ist get automatically updated when you copy the new files to the server, via the upgrade wizard. You can delete all files and folders from your existing installation except the uploads folder and the db.config and app.config
