Hey YAFers! Is it possible to have a protected forum topic where only approved clients can enter into, and other clients are denied access?

If so, how can I accomplish this?

I myself created a forum with only admin/moderator access, and set the "No Access" mask to all others.

If you create a new role for eg "Approved clients" and an access mask for the role, I think you can do it on forum/subforum level.

Don't think it is possible to do on a single topic-per-topic level.

Hey JP! Thank you for taking the time to reply. I think I'm understanding your train of thought, but I'm (thus far) unable to make this work.

Like, for instance, I want only people I approve of to be able to access certain folders. On my page, which is here: http://www.ussvision.com/knowledgebase/ , I have it successfully set up so that I manually have to approve users before they can use the board. That's the good part.

But for instance, I made a category and forum for General Motors Contacts and USS Personnel. You can see for yourself:
Login: Test
Password: test123

Test is still approved now as a registered user for everything. For whatever reason, the USS Personnel folder is off limits, but the General Motors Contacts is open. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong with the masks and roles.

If you have the time, could you please guide me as to what I'm doing wrong? Like, when you say:

JP, I finally figured it out by looking closer at your instructions, and learning more about users, masks, and roles ... I'm on a roll now! lol

I think another big difference is learning to pay attention when someone says category and when they say forum, as I think sometimes people interchange the two.

So now I have a General Motors folder that nobody can access until I grant them access.

Now all I have left to do is to figure out how to add "company name" and "phone number" to the registration form, and I'm all set!
