one cool feature that came with 1.9.6 Beta1 was that right to the "Active Topics" link in the navigation there was a "red notification counter" which showed up whenever there had been new messages posted which are listed in the my topic page.

this notification bubble disappeared in the RC1 - its still available for private messages - but no longer for discussion messages 😮

is this by design and this notification bubble will not appear again - or was the feature too buggy for the RC and will be rolled out later ?

If bbobb can help me make a solution to make it really fast without slowing down the db we can bring back that feature.

But in 1.96 beta this feature was to database heavy especially on large forums with many users.

Until there is a better solution for this feature it is suspended.
