Hello,

for our Intranet we are using CMS software provided by immediacy. they have given rss feed plug in where you can put the rss feed address and it display the feed on the webpage. I have put BBC and couple of other feed and all are working fine. when I put feed address from any yet another forum it does not work. plug in does not display any error and only says feed can not be displayed. I have spoken to immediacy and they said there's something non-standard about their feed. I thought it is causing problem because of & sign but I checked few other feeds from yet another forum without & sign and same thing happens. I have also tried rss feed from this forum and it does not work. when I put this feed in the news crawler software, it is working fine.

my question: is there anything non-standadrd about RSS feed provided by yet another forum.

any suggestion

thank you.

Check this feed. Is it causing problems too?
http://forum.yetanotherf...ic.aspx?pg=Forum&c=2
But all feed readers I know don't experience any difficulties with YAF feeds. I think it's you CMS plugin problem.
As to & simbols it's fixed in one of the latest svn revisions.

Anyway it will be checked for compatability.

You're right the YAF feeds currently work incorrect.

I don't know is it YAF bug or not. It can be a badly implemented plugin.
I can see some problems in YAF implementation, but they should not cause problems in the place. Win7 reader plugin works fine. YAF RSS is implemented based on standard .NET Framework class. It's a standard implementation.
FeedDemon, FeedReader read them fine. Win7 widget too. Only some extra links are incorrect.
I think the main problem is in your plugin.

Hello,

I think there's problem with YAF forum. I have made my own plug in and it's still not displaying YAF rss feed. I have tried feed from this forum and it does not work. I can see all other feeds.

I get this error when I put YAF feed in my reader.

And what? Every feed reader or browser that I know reads YAF feeds.
In some cases some things don't work as expected. But they always read them.

I am not blaming you or your software. I know all browsers and most of the software can read your feed. I have put that post to get some help. RSS feed & active directory both are new areas for me and I can not make that work.

thank you for your reply.

I'll look into it. But look yourself at any feed reader - it displays YAF feeds. DNN feed reader too.
I'll check it for standards compliance today, but I'm still sure that the problem is with your plug-ins implementation.

I have also created new post for active directory. do you have code for that?

hello bbobb,

I have spoken to plug in supplier and that's what they have came up with.

I have been looking at this futher this afternoon. I can confirm that Immediacy can communicate with this page with the settings as they stand (I've used the embed site plugin to browse to this url. Browsing to this url works (embed site & IE and other previously mentioned browser based applications all work) however Immediacy and your true RSS readers do not view this content properly, this indicates that there is something illegaly or incorrectly formatted for a true RSS reader to pick up where tehy are expecting true RSS XML. It has been observed that all of the other feeds we've looked at in IE if you view source they make a declaration at the top of the feed of "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>" the YAF feeds are lacking this declaration.

This is something that we feel may be relevant to the correct function as a true RSS feed.

If the header
<rss xmlns:a10="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" version="2.0">
doesn't ring a bell withyour pluginčśĽ , it's completely useless.
Frankly. YAF generates feeds on the fly as users have various access levels, it doesn't generates files.
Moreover server communicates a client xml content type explicitly. Not xml+rss or xml+atom. Keep it in mind while implementing a feed plug-in.
It's not a YAF problem.
Anyway as a result of our communication Atom feeds are fully implemented too and some minor bugs fixed. I'll commit it to svn tomorrow after testing. :-d

Added the xml header to generated output. Hopefully, it'll help in your case..
