I followed the instructions including what was mentioned about the web.config file.
Could this be Plex related?

As mentioned in the install instructions I did not modify the web.config.
Just renamed the recommended.web.config.

The tag prefix you mentioned was not in the renamed web.config so I added it.
The new error after adding I got this:
Parser Error
Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'YAF.Web' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Should I delete everything in the folder and start from the beginning?
Using install package YAF.NET v2.2.4.20.

Sorry my mistake. There was the wrong default.aspx in the package.

Please Re-Download the Install Package.

The correct default.aspx file is inside and then you can use the unmodified version of the web.config. Without the tag mentioned above.

Still have not been able to troubleshoot this program.

Now, after going through a successful install and getting to
Clicking "Next" will initialize your database to the latest version.

I get :
500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
I even received the mail message: "The email sending appears to be working from your YAF installation."

Did you delete the database before you tried to reinstall yaf?

If you disable custom errors in the web.config you should see the full error message.

Custom Errors were off when I got the 500 error..
Not sure if I did or not delete the entire database.

I am just hoping to get yaf working.

I will start from scratch again. meaning new database and eliminating all files in the website directory downloading the install package etc... from the online instructions unless there is something else I should do.

This happened with two different web hosts. godaddy shared plex and omnis windows; same issues.

if you start fresh you could start with YAF 2.3.0 RC 5 which is close to final release. The version you try to install is soon obsolete. And i don't have any time to test this version anymore.
