Cunningly YAF can change the appname for the membership and role provider (its in the create board utility, and also if you look at the yaf_board table). This allows for different users per board, as well as same users per board.
If the appname in the board settings is blank it just takes the default from the web.config provider settings.
So its entirely possible to have same users different boards as well as different users different boards. :-)

Edit: Even int he above situation they will have the same UserProviderKey but different UserID's within YAF. YAF_Users is board specific.

Now off to see what JSHelper has wrote :-)

Great idea for being able to dynamically change boards (if that works), but I don't think it'll get you that multiple board functionality.

Yeah it does work, I use this for my portal ;-)

Very interesting. So don't specify a BoardId in your YAF:Forum control and it will default to that app setting key, which I guess you could change dynamically based on your permission using the location tag? So you could change them but then each user/role would only be able to access 1 board, right?

Great idea for being able to dynamically change boards (if that works), but I don't think it'll get you that multiple board functionality.

Hmm.. Well, the membership goes by application name - which would be the same - so it would share the same membership users. Yaf's users table has a boardId column, so yeah, each board would have a seperate yaf user, but they would all have the same ProviderUserKey. You wouldn't need to log in a seperate account for each board.

That actually might be desirable. Each board would have a different user profile - different avatars, different email address, different everything. Even seperate board statistics. But still a single login.

yes right..the same userid and password are working for each board but the problem is it is reinserting the user credentials in the user table with that particular board.
And this also doesn't solve the problem of having multiple boards in a site.coz even same user is being assigned with the different user id for that particular board and at one time he can not navigate to the other board with that.
and at one time i can load only one board not all the boards..and I am finding a way to have multiple boards in the site..
