Thanks a lot for the good forum software. We are using YAF in a developer community. Now some of us want to get an email notification as and when anybody posts a topic into any of the forum. This will help us to keep track, while saving time of unnecessary checking by visiting the site. Please add this as a feature. I am sure a lot of users will be benifited by this.

Did this feature ever get implemented? We need a way for reviewers to get an email when a new forum topic is posted.

My users have also been wanting this feature. Any news on it?

what about using the RSS feed?

You can click on each forum and near the bottom right will be "Watch Forum".. that will send an email whenever a new post/reply is made in that forum. There's no global "watch everything" flag that I know of, but, really, how long does it take to click through the forums and click a link?

Also my users (internal corporate site) are not very tech savvy, RSS is a bit beyond them at this time, and we don't have a corporate Feed Reader, so they want to use Watch Forum.

Here is the feature I see, tell me if I'm incorrect.. some way to bulk add users (either by selection, or group/role, etc) to subscribe/watch a forum.

Yes that is correct, from my perspective. The ability for a moderator/admin to be able to push subscriptions to certain users. Though this might not be the best practice, particulary in a corporate environment it is sometimes necessary that users watch forums, and they don't always know how or can be bothered going through the motions themselves. Also, as previously mentioned, when new forums are added they won't know to watch these.

I guess you could manually add it to the yaf_WatchForum table in the DB.
