Thank you very much for you wonderful forum. But I urgently need your instructions. We have users in the forum. But from time to time we need to create closed groups of some of the users (without changing logins) to participate in topicts closed from the others. 1. Please, tell me, how to make topics available (and visible) to closed group only. 2. How to make a special group of users to enter this topics (not moderates). Thanks in advance, Best regards, Kate |

Can't you just make a new mask (maybe call it special access or something) asign it to the special people. Build up a few forums that are visible only to people with this mask. I may be thinking this is easier than it is, but that is how you control access to things in DotNetNuke, so I don't see why it wouldn't work with YAF. |

I can make a new mask for the users. But the point is how to aply it to a certain topic or forum. So that the group could see and participate in all the topics and the special one. But the others could not see the hidden topic/forum. I'm sorry for the stupid question, but I've just started to work with the forum. Could you instruct me on how to create hidden forum? |

In the admin section, you can set which access masks to use for each forum or board, not topic. |

Could you, please describe the steps for applying an access mask to a separate forum or board? Unfortunatelly I cannot find in the admin section where to do that. Thanks in advance. |

It's pretty simple. The first thing you need to do is create a new mask. Under User and roles click Access Masks. When the screen loads, click "New Access Mask". Give it a name, set the properties and click save. Then, under Admin click Forums. Click edit for the forum you want to apply this mask to. At the bottom, in the Access section, select the type of mask to be applied for the 3 types of accounts. Click save. And that's it! :-P |
