hi, I also have the same question.
We have three social groups, Group A, Group B and Group C, each of these groups will be viewed only by specific security roles, say Role A, Role B and Role C. We also would like to create 3 new categories for each YAF groups in the YAF, like, Category A, B, C and link them to their social groups.
so, all the latest discussions going on in Category A of YAF will be displayed on the social group, Group A etc. Is this possible? Thanks for your time.

Currently i dont know how the social groups work, but if you say Group A is only Part of Role A and so on, there should be no problem to set the access mask for each Forum and Sub Forum individually.
You can not set the access Mask for Categories, thats done automatically, because if you enable the option "Hide if no access" in a (sub)forum and there is no forum which a user has access the forum is hidden and the category too.

Sorry but such feature takes time to implement, at the moment i don't have much time. And before i can add new features there are still lots of unresolved issues.
So i can not give you any time frame when this feature is ready.

Tha_Watcha, no problem. The site I am working on should go live end october and I was hoping to use YAF on it but without proper journal integration I can't

I also join in the appeal for DNN Social Integration and I am also piloting a project where YAF plays an important role, and it would unbearable shame to have it socially unintegrated...Willing to test this improvement and push the 'social' YAF in the dnn world!
P1 - my posts and my replies should be posted to DNN journal
P2 - it would be lovely to have a dnn widget 'My Posts/My Replies' which we could place in the DNN Profile Page
P3 - I like the groups ideas although it would be difficult to implement- DNN Social groups integrating with YAF. so on dnn social group page you can see the posts/forums made by the group members...
for the P1 et P2 - please, pretty please, with sugar on top.
YAF Rules...!:!:
P.S. if these 3 points are met, there will be an even more widespread adoption of yaf as the forum of choice for DNN
