Hello,

I'm just trying to install my first YAF forum and I'm hanging on the screen where I have to type in the forum name and create the admin account.

It tells me "unable to connect to database"

What my Event Log says is:

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed. [CLIENT: ]

My connection String:

I don't know where I did the mistake and I have to say that I'm still new to SQL Server. Maybe you can tell me which permissions I have to set for my asp.net user.

The "Forum" Database is created and the login also. I also added all the user mapping things there.

Thanks!

I don't use SQL Express, but let me Google that for you...

When I post fp:mddubs in a topic, I'm leaving my footprint there so I can track it once I get into coding/supporting. (Yes I stole this off Mek 🙂, who stole this off Ederon 🙂 )

Yes.. I googled before. And tried most of the things. I'm restoring the VM now for the second time. Next thing I will do, is to setup the website without that stupid plesk wizzard. Its a small project for college, running on a virtual win2k3 machine.

Does YAF create some error logs during the installation? I don't understand that windows event message, because YAF has allready created its tables in the DB. So where is the connection problem??

I also have another DB for my main application running and everything is working right. (Same user, same webapplication, almost same connection string)

Thanks for any help!

Remotedesktop session any one?
