I there a way to hide a category? I want to create two or three boards accessible only to admins and moderators under one category. I've figured out how to restrict access and hide the forums, but I'd like the general users to not even know of the existence of the mod/admin only areas.

Doesn't appear that there is -- would make a nice feature for a future release, though. hint hint

However, needing to move forward today, I worked around it thusly:

i create a forum and made it private (accessible only to a small group)

then I added a number of sub-forums (with the same role permissions as the parent forum) for actually posting threads. In this setup the parent forums functions like a category -- only downside is it has to be placed in another category but since it's hidden that's only a minor annoyance.

This will work until a time when private categories becomes a public feature.

I think private categories will be included in the final release of 1.9.3, if I remember hearing that correctly.
