Hello,

We are currently integrating YAF with a website running on Microsoft Commerce Server 2007. To get it to share the same user details has required a ton of hacking about (we're using the beta) mainly because the membership provider that CS uses doesn't seem compatible with the YAF one.

Just wondering if anyone else has had, or is having a stab at getting these two products to work together...

Regards,

Not heard or seen anyone using it regardless of integration with YAF. I'm very surprised though that you're saying the Membership Provider doesn't seem compatible because after a quick googling it looks pretty standard. One example shows integration of Commerce Server with MOSS using a MOSSMembershipProvider.

Wish you luck on your venture,

Mek.

When I post FP:Mek in a topic, I'm leaving my footprint there so I can track it once I get into coding/supporting. (Yes I stole this off Ederon 🙂 )

Thanks for the reply,

It could well be my ignorance with the membership/roles provider implementation, since I haven't a lot of experience in that area, however, I noticed that YAF would crash when the CS provider was default, and CS would crash when the YAF provider was default (The CS provider does not have available source code). Our rough & ready solution was to stick the provider code in your data project under a different namespace, then change the using statements whereever they appeared from system.net.security to the new namespace (before you fall off your chair laughing, it works).

Regarding CS & MOSS memberships working together, Microsoft try to push MOSS onto anyone that has CS and the developments look similar, so I think they are more tightly integrated.

Thanks btw to the developers & the people keeping this site alive, I hope to join in some day after rewriting this current version :)

Hi rbozo,

Well the installation in a sub directory was never a problem, how well do you find the membership providers working? We found whichever one wee set to default caused errors in the other application during use.

Our somewhat hacked version is being released to up to 500,000 members next week! (though I expect only a few thousand will use it).
