Hi Everyone..

I'm currently looking at migration paths for my current .net 1.1 and Web Wiz Forum based site.

My main issue at the moment is migration of my current web wiz forum. I don't want to lose the 2 1/2 years worth of threads that i currently have sitting in sql.

So the question..

Does anyone have or know of a converter to go from WWF to YAF?

Thanks.

This was 5 years ago, he was at the forum 4 years ago, you'd better to make it yourself.

You have an option to go here, because a full conversion is demanding

I've not worked with their structure, but have done a YAF conversion from an old ASP.NET forum... It is a huge undertaking depending on the number of posts and how their software stores the data.

The additional issue will be password encryption. Users may have to reset all passwords during the migration - that depends on how WebWiz handles their data storage.

I couldn't make an estimate on time taken without seeing atleast a sample of the old data, and even then the layout and conversion scripts could take me several weeks to write and test.

I could probably work with you on a rate - but like bbobb said - it's not easy. You'd have to determine a budget and make a post in the YAF Jobs. I'm currently in the middle of evaluating a job now that really needs to be on bbobb's plate. Its' got umbraco integration and that's not my kettle of wax --

If you can't find it using the forum search, try my signature link -- searches this site using Google: Google is my Friend

You can figure out it step by step if you can read the db structure and having a working real database or an actual copy. Really you don't even need to know how it works behind database.

now that really needs to be on bbobb's plate.

The general idea that users should get help. No matter who makes it. This is IMO.

Sometimes, they can't even pay a real price, but with a joined help from community members who sometimes care about such users, even the members can be served to an extent.
