I would like to use the forums as the commenting system on a website's articles. I'd just finished writing the triggers to create a new topic and message, when I realized I don't understand how the links to forum topics are created.

I guess I had in mind that I would just have something like (hover over 1 to see what I mean):

Would someone care to shed some light on the nature of forum topic URLs?
