I've considered this and there are problems in my eyes:

1. BBCode and HTML posts do not play well together. If someone is using the BBCode editor and they are replying to a post that was HTML (rich text) it just doesn't work. The message flag can only be BBCode or HTML for quite a few reasons -- the main one being that they would just completely conflict with one another. One option would be to disallow "quotes" or radically improve how YAF handles quotes (treat them as separate messages with their own formatting flags? lots of work). This is also the reason an existing board that has been BBCode cannnot just switch to being HTML. I'm open to ideas or solutions that I might not have considered.

2. Another option would be JUST allow a selection of HTML editors. This could be done -- but why? They are a hassle to setup from an admin end -- and it just strikes me as confusing to the user to have multiple options of FreeTextBox and TinyMCE, etc. To me: pick one, and set it up properly, and use that.

One reason to have HTML editor as choise is to place embdeed sources, say inline videos (highly popular) -- using:

tags...

Or -- other way is to be founded for embedded sources...
