I have tried to setup a private forum where it is the admin that approves who are granted access. I have followed this guide:

When a new member creates an account, this member is being created (as newbie) - it's visible in the User section but there are not sent any mail to me (as admin).

The new user are also not allowed to do anything in the forum - it says "No access". I have tried to changed the user from being a Newbie to a Member but without any luck.

I'm running on V2.30 - has the procedure changed since the guide was made?

The email function is currently broken. and will be fixed in YAF 2.30.01 (Which will be out on Sunday!)

Does the "Member" Role (Group) has access to the forums? Go to Admin > Settings > Forums. And check each forum if the Access Mask for the Role Member is set correctly.

I'm using a Hotmail.

Is the email correctly setup? You can test the email function under Admin > Users and Roles > Mail.

Testing the email function under Admin > Users and Roles > Mail gives the following error:

The SMTP host was not specified.

I send from a hotmail to a gmail.

How do I solve that?
