I'm running the latest version of YAF and can see in the admin area a tick box for approved user. Does anyone know if there's a way for this to be set to unapproved automatically so all new users need to be approved and then automatically emailed once they are set as approved?

THanks.

Thanks, I've already done this but it doesn't accomplish what I'm looking to achieve. In the admin panel there's a tick box saying a user is approved or not. What I'm hoping to make happen is that a user, when initially registered, is not approved (this tick box is unticked). When the admin ticks the box they can access the forums *and* an email is sent to them advising of the approval of their account.

I realise that the suggested solution accomplishes 90% of this (I've already implemented this solution so I know where it fails) but it doesn't allow for the automatic notification of the user once they're approved. Obviously the use of the tick box is arbitrary and potentially the same functionality could be applied to the changing of the roles as described above. However, as roles are possible to create and delete it seems more likely to assign this emailing functionality to something more like the 'approved' tick box as that is always present in the admin area.

Hope this makes sense.
