Hi,

I am in the process of installing YAF (version 1.9.6) for the first time, I am told the install was fine, but then when I click finish I get an error page and turning the errors to off, it shows that there is no data in the tables for it to work.

Is this normal, should a new install include some data to run the forum?

Any help appreciated.

I would suggest creating a new database and trying the install once more to replicate the issue. If the same issue arises, copy/paste the exact error here and someone will surely be able to assist you.

To answer your question, no, that is not normal. I've done fresh installs numerous times and the tables are intended to be empty (for the most part) because its a fresh install. That shouldn't return an error.

However, with that said, you do have one category, one forum, one topic and one message created upon a successful fresh install.

Hi,

Thanks for coming back to me.

I got there in the end, at a certain stage there are two options with tick boxes, one of these are automatically ticked which I believe is linked to updating rather than installing and so no data is written to the tables.

If you you untick the boxes, it then progresses to the next stage which asks you to create your initial board etc and complete a successful install.

Not sure if YAF people monitor this, but it would be worth providing a little more clarity on the tick box stage of the install.
