Hi All,

Running version 1.9.3 RC2

I was wondering if I set a Forum to "Moderated"

When a Registerd user who has access to that forum, it posts a message that suggests the topic/post must be approved by a Moderator before being posted.

Logging in as a Moderator, I click the "Moderate" button in the forum, however no Thread/post appears in there, Is this the correct location to approve threads or is there somewhere else I need to look / Somthing I need to turn on to allow Moderators to do this.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Yes. If you set the forum to pre-moderated ... so when you were logged in as the administrator, you checked off "pre moderated" in that forum ...

All you do now, is log in, and in the top navbar, click the moderate link. There, it will show "Moderate Reported Posts and Not Approved Posts" and the (unapproved) posts will appear there. If there are unapproved posts, click the number, and it will give you the option to approve or delete.

Hope this helps; it's pretty simple.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the response, I apprciate the reply; I've followed the above instructions and clicked the "Moderate" link in the top navigation, it taks me to a "Moderate" Screen (which is similar to the one which allows me to move and delete threads). However I don't see the "Moderator Reported Posts... " section.

Apart from setting the Forum to "Moderated" is there anything else I may need to turn on in the Host Settings or Have I just completely missed the button?

Sorry to be such a pain.

Thanks again

Andy

Hi Andy; you're not being a pain. You're in the right place; if you set the forum to Pre-Moderated (version 1.9.6.1), then you just click the moderate link in the top navbar, and posts that weren't approved await approval there. There's nothing to alter in your host settings.

Have you considered upgrading to the current version of YAF (version 1.9.6.1)? How intricate is your YAF, or is it still relatively rudimentary? Did you alter the YAF root ---> pages ----> moderate ---> index.ascx, or any files in the moderate folder? Have you tried clearing you cache or using a separate browser?

I don't know if that as a bug in 1.93 or not, but it sounds like you've done the proper things. I wish I could offer more advice.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the above suggestions, it looks like there is a difference between the index.ascx file I have and the default, I'll have to do a little more investigation work to get this one resolved but please accept my thanks for the above suggestions.

If I come across a fix I'll try and post it on here to help any future users with potentially the same issue.

again thanks for the response

I'd recommend backing up your index.ascx file, and then using Winmerge  to compare the two -- or just upload the raw one from one of the previous versions of YAF that you have installed  if you haven't made any modifications to it that are requisite.
