Unfortunately, I just found out about a major issue about the forum.

After we upgraded it, it seems that the new registered users aren't given any role by default, thus the forum doesn't know how to "handle" these users and gives an error message, here's the screenshot: http://i45.tinypic.com/2qvto9u.png

If I manually give em a role, all the issues are gone and they're correctly handled by the forum.

I hope that someone can give any input on this as soon as possible, as it's obviously a terrible issue to have on a live website.

Besides, I may add that we didn't edit any css or system file yet, the whole forum module is exactly as it was when first installed.

We do have a customized registration module on our website, though, but I doubt this is the issue, since the DNN user account seems perfectly fine.

I'm sorry for bumping the thread, I know that's quite rude after a single day, but you can imagine how serious this issue is.

I can add some other information, hoping that could help: when a user opens a new account on the website, he's into our DNN database but he's not in the forum database (from Admin -> Users you can't find him). He appears in the forum db after he tries to see the forum for the first time and gets the error, because he's added into the forum db but doesn't get any role.

Once again, does anybody have any kind of input on this problem? Even some ideas to be given to our developers, who are struggling understanding where the issue might be, would be highly appreciated!

This is a known Bug, stupidly i didn't have much time in the past. And i also hoped there would be an 1.9.6.2 maintenance release which should fix several of issues, which is not happening. The Next Version will be an major Release 1.9x or even 2.0 which is really bad because that means the next release will be out maybe in Q2 2013 (Which is a wild guess).

However to solve the nasty bug, i updated the Current Downloads (Download & Install)

we did install your updated version of the module in our test site, but unfortunately the issue doesn't seem to be fixed. Exactly the same happens for newly registered users, still no roles are assigned by default.

If you needed, I could even give you admin access rights on that website to work on the settings, not really sure if it could help, but basically just let me know if there was something I could do to help.
