My forum is not responding. Was working fine yesterday. I can access my homepage, just not the forum. When I try to access it through ie, chrome, etc, it just sits there turning like its trying to open it, but never does. Any thoughts on how to even troubleshoot this issue???

I performed a backup of my forum database via the host control panel. After it was completed, the forum came back up. Not sure if that fixed it or there was another issue. It was down since early this morning, so who knows.

Any insight on why this would occur? Host problem (had them check the server and of course they do not see anything)? Could YAF lock it up where it would not come up?

You would have to check server logs and event logs to get to a diagnosis. Past versions of YAF had issue sometimes if the application pool was recycled at certain conditions, it would not re-load without being recycled again.

Also would need YAF version, server platform and so forth. Can't diagnose what's unknown --

If you can't find it using the forum search, try my signature link -- searches this site using Google: Google is my Friend

YAF version is in my profile on the left under my avatar, but its 1.9.5.6 RC1. Its a SQL server 2005, hosted by godaddy. I'm not even sure if I have access to those logs since its on their servers. I think the ultimate solution is to change hosts. But I don't know if I am up to move everything, especially restoring the database without losing any info. I thought about upgrading the database to 2008 (not sure if that would even help any), but godaddy says that it cannot be upgraded but I could create another one. Anyway appreciate the reply. I'm just glad its back up, surprised I didn't get blasted with emails, 🙂 .

Then you should try it on a local machine. Database operations should be tried first. You will not have problems if you'll update from an earlier SQL Server version. GoDaddy doesn't fit for YAF - it's for small unused sites which make them profits.
