But then I started thinking that confirming the longer-term plan for v1.9.6.1 RTW isn't a stupid idea, after all. In the past I always made the move when Jaben announced an RTW. I've done a few RC's in my day, but lately I waited for RTW.

I noticed Jaben mentioning a follow-up release to address a few minor glitches in 1.9.6.1 and I noticed that you guys have been busy with a lot of check-ins after we went RTW. So is another major/minor release planned or can I get back to absorbing all of the new features in v1.9.6.1 over v1.9.5.5?

It's too soon to give you a proper answer. I've only spent a few days with v1.9.6.1 and that was mostly at the code level. I like the changes I see there, a cleaner and better organized class structure, patterns implemented in prior releases are applied throughout more of the code base, and several methods I noticed have fewer lines of code than before, which to me says very good things. You have the confidence that the v1.9.6.1 code base is more mature than ever, which of course reflects the maturing skills of tha_watcha, bbobb and others on the YAF Core Team.

As for the new features, you've probably seen the v1.9.6.1 features list on Jaben's announcement  (spoiler button.) From that list and my initial experience with v1.9.6.1, it's clear that the YAF Team dedicated themselves to addressing every single detail.

I should have v1.9.6.1 online sometime in the next few days at Sueetie.com.  You can be sure I'll be blogging the hell out of YAF's new features and how we're leveraging them over the coming weeks and months.

I think its the biggest Release since a long time, yaf has been improved in performance, speed and a ton of bug fixes. And of course a lot of new features.

I dont think there are any plans yet, it depends on how many bugs are found now, but it looks pretty solid so far.

Yes, would agree about v1.9.6.1 RTW being solid. This is such an exciting release and a pleasure to work with...even more than v1.9.5.5.

I've got v1.9.6.1 online at Sueetie.com. (Here's the direct forum link. ) I added a number of small custom mods and everything is working great. The upgrade went flawlessly on both development and production, and integration with the parent app via ASPNET continues to be seamless.
