Hi,

I have downloaded the YAF-v1.9.5-FINAL-BIN version but after successful installation, when I am trying to click on Forum button on main page, I am getting HTTP 403 Forbidden error 😞 .

But when I tried with YAF-v1.9.5-RC1 version, It works fine. But the only issue with this version is Help content is not available with this release.

Can anyone help me to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance,

Sandeep

some more info on the same...

When I click on the link it tries to redirect to below url

http://localhost/MyForum/Forum.NET/

instead of

http://localhost/MyForum/Forum.NET/default.aspx

If I manually change the url to add default.aspx to the url then it redirects properly and works fine.

Please note that all other links in the site are working great as expected.

Has anyone ever faced this issue? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Sandeep

Your IIS webserver configuration may not be correct. default.aspx needs to be mapped as a "Default Document" in the IIS configuration for the site. You are getting 403 Forbidden because without the mapping and no 'page name' in the address/URL, IIS is trying to give a directory listing (which is forbidden by your current configuration).

Thanks a lot squirrel... 🙂 ...This works perfect...

Could you also please help me with the below issues I am currently facing...

1. Now once I login when I try to click on "active topics", I am getting some javascript error. Though the page works fine but there is something it says "done with errors". Is it a known issue? I tried to download 1.9.9.6 beta version and there is no javascript error in that version. Should I use 1.9.9.6 version even though it is beta release? Your suggestion will be greatly appreciated... just for your information my hosting provider provides both framework 3.5 and framework 4.0 support.

2.Is it possible to get the user information who has logged in my forum, across all the pages of my site. Again here I would like to let you know that I have hosted my site pages and forum in different virtual directories? If it is possible please help me understand..how?

Thank you in advance for the help :)

They are use at your own risk as a "preview" or for users to aid and assist the developers in working out bugs in new features as the software grows and evolves. Generally, the YAF development team is quick to resolve bugs in Beta releases when they are reported, but getting the fixes applied to your site during a beta or RC phase will usually require you compiling your own site from the source code if you cannot wait for a packaged release of the beta or cannot wait for the final release to come out.

As for #2, I do not know of any mechanism built into YAF that tracks who has logged in and who has not. The last login of a user is stored in their user record and that is about it. There is no 'user logging' feature built in as this would generally cause heavy overhead tracking user activity into the database, especially on high-use (busy) forums. The only thing I can recommend if you are trying to track general usage is a web statistics program like AWStats. This will not track 'individual user activity, but will track server usage per site. That's the best I can tell you.

Thanks squirrel for the answer...

May be for #2, I can make my need more clearer as I did not put it correctly in my last post.

What I need is, If a user is logged in the forum then I should be able to say welcome (User Name) in all my other pages.

Is it possible by any chance....

Please let me know if I made my requirement clear....

Thanks,

Sandeep

Since I am not a developer, that's about the best information I can tell you. I can recommend a fresh topic with this need in the "Customizing YAF" forum here and some users/developers might be able to help.

if you running localhost. You have to give permission to share the directory. go to the directory.

1.Right click on the directory

2. Select Share With and than advance sharing menu

3.Check mark Share This folder.

4. Click on Permission button then click on the box for full control for everyone

5. Click on apply, then OK, then Apply then OK and finely click on close button

This should resolve your issue
