Hello -

I am transferring YAF to another server but am getting an access error when I try to launch the site.

The site is running on SQL server and the OS is the same on both servers (2003 R2). I can't take down the first server as there are other websites hosted on it so the machine name is different.

These are the steps I used to attempt to move it:

1. Created yaf user on new sql server.

2. Backed up YAF database on old server.

3. Restored database to YAF database container on new server. Verified the dbowner was the YAF user created in step one (same domain user on both servers).

4. Copied contents of Inetpub over to the new server.

5. Created new Website, verify settings were exactly the same (.NET version, app pool account etc.).

6. created and verified ODBC connection

7. edited the db.config

When I go to the site, it keeps reloading without displaying anything. Looking at the logs, it says its an authentication issue however I can determine where the issue is.

If there is a document which outlines a better procedure for moving the app, I would appreciate a link. Other than that, if anyone has any ideas or if there is a normal backup/restore to another server doc, that would work as well.

Thanks!

Michael

You might check your app.config for any settings that would differ from one server to the other, and possibly user level permissions in your webserver - sometimes moving files from one server to the other, permissions are not properly copied/updated...
