I'm setting up a YAF forum as part of an existing website. I've set it up so that it shares authentication with the original site and runs as a virtual directory within the original application.

I'm trying to set it up so that normal users can upload files. Right now, only the administrator has the 'Attach files to this post?' question along with buttons that allow you to attach to current posts.

I have gone to the access mask and roles and I have added the upload option to every role, including guest. I have also tried to add administrator/moderator/everything roles to a test user that I'm using. I can give the test user Admin/Host access, but the user never gets moderator or file attachment options. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Right now, only the admin user has these options, not users with the admin role, but the actual admin user. Any ideas?

Thanks for your time.

Did you set the access masks for every role? You need to set that for every single forum and sub forums.

There is a known Issue in the latest version you need to restart yaf after you edit an access mask to see the changes.

Hallo, wie geht's? Thanks for the reply.

I went into every access mask and set all of their Upload settings to Yes.

Then I verified that access masks were assigned to the roles that were in use.

I went into the forums and verified that the groups had access masks assigned to them there, but I'm not sure if there are other settings I should be looking for.

Lastly, I went into Maintenance -> Restart App and restarted the application. Is that the appropriate place to do that?

Thanks

I must be experiencing a delay of some sort. Now I have all of the options I want. I just can't seem to step backwards. I'm trying to turn off admin and moderator access for my test user (while still keeping the attach options), but after removing most of the user's security, he can still access admin and moderator links. I have tried restarting the application and logging out/in. Is there a way I can get settings to refresh more quickly?

Thanks
