It seems that the install to DNN is easy for every other module consisting of just doing a host install and all config files get modified, created, etc. Why is there so much manual effort required for the YAF forums? I like the forums but I realize it will take me hours to sift through this site to figure out exactly how to do this install. Not knocking YAF, I am so excited about this awesome .NET forum in C# that I will suffer through the install, but I think there would be wider adoption in the DNN world if the install was more friction free.

Did you try my version?

Install it as Normal DNN Module, you only have to change the default password after install.

I have tried a couple different ones. The one that is on this site seems to require manual changes to the webconfig, etc. The one that the person above posted didnt seem to install for me. Numerous errors. I tried installing both on DNN 5.5 running on a sandboxed environment with .NET 3.5. Is there somewhere with an official YAF module with clear install instructions? Perhaps someone blogged about it? Let me know.

I am guessing you simply download the zip file called "YAFDNN_Complete_1.94.01_BETA.zip" and try to install that as Module?

That can NOT work You have to extract that Zip File. Follow the Instructions from the Included Readme.html file and Use the Zip File "YAF_DNN5_1.94.1-BETA-3492.zip" as Installation

Full Text Works only if full-text indexing is enabled in your db.

BUT (always a but)...

The version seems different from the original file ( 1.9.4.0) and i see some small display problems.

if you use my dlls its not a problem. I have to add the repository revision to the assemblys because otherwise the dnn module exensions installer doesnt update them.

I used a file i got from your website.

But there are some visual problems, like some spaces missing.

Example: In latest posts i see

yes a test bytest (Test Forum)

there is a missing space between "by" and "test"

thanks

edit: all fixed. REinstalled everything.

There is finally a problem, when you change DNN skin to index or index full.

I hate when this happens.

The problems with YAF happens when you Enable DNN Whitespace remove (Host settings).
