Our society has set YAF up so that members can access the forum after logging in to the society web site (or at least they will when we're ready to take it live).

Our managing committee want their own area, where they can discuss society business away from prying eyes, ie private from all other society members.

What do I need to do to create this separate forum for them? Or instruct our IT people to do? How do you restrict who can access that forum?

I'm still very new to YAF, so not even sure I'm using the correct terminology for it, but I hope my intention is clear. 🙂

Wendy Howard

I've now set up new categories and forums where we want to restrict access, and these can only be seen by those who have permissions set via masks and roles.

However, I've discovered that when a message is posted on one of the restricted forums, an email notification is sent to everyone who has set themselves to receive "notification for all posts on all topics", even those they're supposedly not supposed to know about (and can't see those forums on their screen when they log in), which of course includes the beginning text of the post. The link in the notification does not work, a message is put on the screen saying access is denied.

Am I missing something, or is this how it's meant to work?
Kind Regards,

Its a Bug, there is currently no check if the user that gets the mail has access to the forum.
