I have noticed that user controls exist under both these folders: pages and controls.

Why are the user controls separated under both these folders? Normally a page in ASP.Net would mean a file ending in aspx extension, but under pages all extensions are ascx and none are aspx. So, I am confused about this.

Everything in yaf it's just controls. This is the normal structure that the pages are in the pages folder because this are the actual pages for the forum. But of course this has nothing to do with normal aspx pages you are referring to..

You mean the user controls under pages folder act as containers of user controls under controls folder and also that the user controls under pages folder define the contents of a page?
