I searched first and can not find.
Ver 1.9.3 running .Net 2.0 on Windows Server 2003

I can not get the email SMTP section to work.

ORIGINAL mail.config is as follows;
<!--
SMTP setup for sending of e-mails from your forum.
-->
<smtp from="forumadmin@yourdomain.com" deliveryMethod="Network">
<!-- Uncomment to specify SMTP settings -->
<!-- network host="localhost" port="25" password="" userName="" / -->
</smtp>

I edited it as follows;
<!--
SMTP setup for sending of e-mails from your forum.
-->
<smtp from="forumadmin@bronzeplaqueforum.com" deliveryMethod="Network">
<network host="localhost" port="25" password="My_pw" userName="My_un" />
</smtp>

The error is ;
System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: The configuration section cannot contain a CDATA or text element. (D:\Websites\BronzePlaqueForum\Forum\mail.config line 4)

I would love to hear from someone who actually knows what they are doing, as opposed to me who knows little.
I just changed "localhost" to the admin IP address for the server (I am on my own dedicated server) and it started working.

what does that have to do with 'CDATA' and what .....

BTW - this is a kick butt system - I was using Snitz and this beats it hands down.

I am going to take some of my newbie lessons and add them to the wiki (if that is alright)

Btw if your handy with sql, you should be able to transfer your users into the Yaf_prov_membership and use the same password I included some snitz password provider options.

PM me if needed.

When I post FP:Mek in a topic, I'm leaving my footprint there so I can track it once I get into coding/supporting. (Yes I stole this off Ederon 🙂 )

I am facing the same problem. When a new user registers on forum it doesn't sends a verification mail

I have configured the mail.config file in following manner

<smtp>
<network host="smtp.gmail.com" port="port_no" userName="usr_name" password="pwd" from="from_email_id" />
</smtp>

I am using google smtp server to send mails so host and port numbers are so..

Please tell me how to solve this issue.
